This amazing and colorful model set allows hands-on experience with 3-dimensional bonding. The gray link represents a sigma bond, a single covalent bond that is formed when an electron pair is shared by the direct overlap of bonding orbitals. Two red links represent a pi bond, a bond that is formed when parallel orbitals overlap to share electrons. Demonstration models of methane, ethene, acetylene, and carbon dioxide are pre-assembled. Additional parts allow students to build their own molecules. Instructions with pictures are included with model parts and pre-assembled molecules in a white cardboard box.
